House on a Hill

Cedar and Sara started House on a Hill after playing in the rock band First Last Chance. In 2002 they moved into a Queen Anne apartment together and recorded their self-titled debut album as House on a Hill. Besides earning rotation on KEXP, the record became album of the week and was one of the top 50 sellers at Easy Street Records during the fi rst half of 2003. They then joined with drummer Carlos Moncada and began to evolve their sound by playing shows, eventually signing with Buttermilk Records. They have been in the studio with producer Gary Mula and engineer Brian Steel for nearly a year, perfecting their new LP, Ladyslipper, due out in early summer 2005.
House on a Hill has a melodic post-rock sound that draws influences from sources as diverse as punk and motown. They have been compared to Pinback, Blonde Redhead, and The Pretenders.
